During his years in school, Stephen Colbert already had a fascination for performing in stage plays and writing for the school newspaper. While his passion for working on dramatic productions hasn’t faded away, Colbert eventually dabbled in improvisational comedy. Well, by the looks of it, trying his hand in improv ultimately became the first step he took towards stardom.

After appearing in a couple of shows here and there, including the Strangers with Candy series, Colbert eventually garnered widespread recognition for his stint as a correspondent for The Daily Show. Not long after, his career soared to even higher degrees of success thanks to his follow-up work on The Colbert Report. Now regarded as one of the entertainment industry’s most influential figures, the comedian/show host has since become most known for his hosting gig on the Late Show, which started in 2015.
