Mel Gibson may have been involved in many controversies, but it does not take away the fact that he was one of the most prominent actors during the 1980s and 1990s. His first film was in Mad Max. Due to its success in the box office, he got to star in its two sequels. He moved on to star in the Lethal Weapon franchise, which further sealed his status as a Hollywood star. After establishing himself as a versatile actor, Gibson also tackled another role and that is sitting on the director’s chair. His work on The Passion of Christ was impressive and earned him numerous praises, but it also led to several controversies.

Even though Gibson is not as active in Hollywood as he was before, he still has some serious cash to burn. In fact, he used his investment money to buy himself an island. It is not clear as to how often he spends his time there, but one thing is for sure: he knows where to use his hard earned money to treat himself.
